Play Hollow is more than a toy store—it's a gathering place for families, caregivers, and children throughout Ballston Spa and the Capital Region. Since its beginning, Play Hollow has been built around the belief that childhood should be filled with imagination, exploration, connection, and joy.
Today, that mission continues under the leadership of owner Megan Miles and a team of women who are passionate about supporting families, encouraging meaningful play, and creating a welcoming community space for all.
A Letter from Our Owner
When I learned that Play Hollow might close at the end of 2025, I couldn't imagine our community losing such a special place.
I had spent years supporting the store as a customer before joining the team, and I had seen firsthand the connections, friendships, and memories created within these walls. Saving Play Hollow quickly became more than a business decision—it became a commitment to preserving something meaningful for local families.
Just one month later, I became the owner and began one of the biggest adventures of my life.
My background includes degrees in Psychology and Education, along with experience working in higher education, early childhood education, and preschool settings. Most importantly, I am a mom of three boys who have grown up exploring nature, learning through play, and building community right here in Ballston Spa.
At Play Hollow, I am committed to honoring the legacy that so many families already know and love while continuing to grow and evolve alongside our community. You'll still find thoughtfully curated toys, apparel, books, and gear inspired by childhood wonder, along with expanded offerings for parents, caregivers, and older children.

Megan purchased Play Hollow in 2026 after working in the store and falling in love with the community it created. With backgrounds in psychology, education, and early childhood development, she is passionate about creating spaces where children and families can learn, play, and connect.
Consignment Manager
For nearly four years, Iulia has helped shape Play Hollow's beloved consignment program. As a mother of two who has been deeply involved in the Play Hollow community, she is passionate about sustainability, responsible consumption, and giving quality children's items a second life. Her dedication has helped build a consignment program that benefits families while reducing waste and supporting environmental stewardship.

Originally from New Hampshire, Emaly moved to Upstate New York in 2014 and brings experience in both culinary arts and early childhood education. As a mother of two daughters, she understands the importance of supportive community spaces for families. She joined Play Hollow over a year ago and loves helping create a welcoming environment where children and caregivers feel seen, supported, and inspired.
